Quincy native and radio icon Ron Della Chiesa prepares to sign his memoir, “Radio My Way.”

Ron Della Chiesa graciously entertained a crowd at Marshfield’s Village at Proprietors Green last night. Della Chiesa, the radio icon and voice of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, presented an enchanting combination of songs and storytelling to more than 60 seniors. The host of WPLM-FM’s “Strictly Sinatra,” radio program, Della Chiesa delighted area residents with anecdotes and historical facts about the music of Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. Residents from towns around the South Shore, including Marshfield, Weymouth and Scituate, swayed to the music of Sinatra’s, “All or Nothing at All, and Bennett’s “Because of You.”  Lucky trivia contest winners received a copy of Della Chiesa’s book, “Radio My Way.”

The Emerson Room at Village at Proprietors Green in Marshfield was packed for Ron Della Chiesa’s program of music on Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett.

Della Chiesa, who will turn 75 in February is celebrating more than 50 years in radio. He began his career as a youngster, making an appearance on a children’s program at Quincy radio station, WJDA-AM.

The event was part of an ongoing series of free educational programs sponsored by Village at Proprietors Green, which offers independent living, assisted living and assisted living memory care. The community is now more than 90 percent occupied.
