Welch Group Assisted Living Luncheon Speaker Embodies National Theme: Keeping Connected

1

Paul Casale, Jr., executive director of Allerton House at Central Park in Weymouth is featured here introducing Sarah Hoit of Connected Living to the gathering of residents.

Each year during National Assisted Living Week, the Welch Group celebrates residents with week-long festivities in four Allerton House Assisted Living Communities along the South Shore. One of the highlights of the week is the Assisted Living Luncheon, held at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston.

Paul Casale, Jr. executive director of Allerton House at Central Park in Weymouth, and emcee for the annual celebration, said staying at the forefront of new technological advances is part of the Allerton House mission.

By way of introducing the Luncheon’s guest speaker Sarah Hoit, he said she embodied the theme, “Keeping Connected.” Hoit is the CEO and co-founder of Connected Living, an award-winning program that helps residents get online using a secure, easy-to-use cloud-based social network, coupled with customized training and support that teaches seniors how to use technology, and also provides ongoing support that helps them to stay connected for the long-term. Hoit’s program is in use in all Allerton Houses, and soon the company will roll out a new App for families and residents.

The family-owned Welch Group offers assisted living communities along the South Shore, in Duxbury, Hingham, Marshfield, and Weymouth. The company includes two independent living communities, the only continuing care retirement community from Boston to Cape Cod offering garden homes and two memory care assisted living communities.

Allerton House at Proprietors Green in Marshfield showcased the community’s Connected Living availability for residents with a “Let’s Get Connected” presentation in the Country Kitchen. The community also engaged residents in a special “Guess Who?” program in which information about a resident was relayed to the group who then had to determine who the profile best described.

Allerton House Assisted Living Communities Encourage Older Adults To Bone Up on Bone Health

The fact that most people achieve their maximum bone strength at age 30, and then begin to lose more bone than they make sounds pretty daunting. What’s a person to do in their 40s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s? Lots of things! And you can enjoy doing them.

Like so many other parts of the body, our bones respond to what we do, what we eat, and how much we know about the things that keep them strong and make them stronger.

This New Year’s Family Caregivers who Take Care of Themselves Can Give Their Best

Caring for Loved Ones

The results of a National Alliance for Caregiving survey indicate that about 65 million people in the U.S. are unpaid caregivers for family members, with the majority caring for someone over age 50. While there may be a high level of comfort and an abundance of rewards for both parties, there can also be physical and emotional demands that threaten the caregiver’s health and well-being over time. Many of the family caregivers in Massachusetts may want to consider taking some time to recharge at the beginning of the New Year. Welch Healthcare & Retirement Group’s five assisted living communities on Boston’s South Shore offer several ways to do this. (more…)

On any given day, residents and their guests can be found in animated conversation or enjoying a good book on the front porch, which is beautifully landscaped with the season’s prettiest summer plants and flowers. And when it comes to dining, residents may enjoy scrumptious snacks in the country kitchen and elegant dinners in a sun-filled dining room, overlooking the front porch.
