Alzheimer’s educator and author Jolene Brackey spoke last night at Allerton House in Hingham, which in the fall of 2013 will open a new, secure Memory Care Program. The Memory Care Program at Allerton House in Hingham will feature 13 rental apartments, including 10 studios and three companion suites.
Brackey talked about the many ways families and caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and memory care issues can create “Family Moments of Joy,” every day. The evening dinner program offered individuals from Hingham and the surrounding towns an opportunity to receive practical advice about their own interactions with their loved ones who are experiencing memory loss.
Allerton House Assisted Living Community at Harbor Park in Hingham is part of a continuum of care that includes traditional assisted living, and in the fall will include assisted living memory care. The campus also features an Adult Day Memory Care Program and provides short-term rehabilitation and long-term care at Harbor House Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.
